Age Group Sectionals Results


MEET RECAP
CMSA finished in 13th place out of (70) plus teams competing from SEVEN
 different states!


(11) CMSA swimmers competed in the Eastern Section Age Group Championships consisting of the fastest 9-14 year old from across seven states.


Will Glass led the Bigfish with (3) individual titles in the 50 fly (26.54), 100 fly (57.97) and the 100 free (53.51).  Will also was 2nd
 place in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.20.  Will’s 100 & 200 fly times were good enough to attain Top (16) National Reportable Times (NRT) in the country.  Will is currently the (13th) fastest 11-12 boy in the entire US in the 100yd butterfly.  Will set new CMSA team records in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 free.
 

Marlin Brutkiewicz also attained a Top (16) NRT time in the 50 breast finishing in 3rd place with a time of 30.91.  This also broke a (28) year old CMSA team record!  Marlin took 4th place in the 100 breast with a 1:09.65 while shaving off over (10) seconds in the 200 breast with a time of 2:35.50.  All CMSA team records!
 

Katie Marie Grafton finished in 4th place in the 1000 free with a besttime of 11:09.83.  This ranks KM at 34th in the nation in this event. KM also was 6th in the 1650 with a huge drop of over (30) seconds with a time of 19:02.52.  KM also swam a LTB in the consols of the 100 free finishing 14th with a time of 57.42.
 

Cooper Brown swam outstanding with multiple final swims finishing 5th in the 50 back (29.96), 6th in the 500 free (5:25.73), and a 7th place finish in the 1000 free (11:19.57).  Cooper swam (6) events in the finals or consolation final over the weekend.
 

Leigh Higby swam (2) best times and dropped (2) seconds in the 100 breast with a time of 1:17.86. 

Tawni Orso swam a best time in the 50 fly with a time of 30.27. 

Both Leigh and Tawni along with teammates Cooper and Katie Marie teamed up for two great relays that finished in 8th place each and contributed points to the CMSA total.  The 200 free & 200 medley relays swam superbly and were in the top (8) out of seven states!
 

Paige Madden led the 9-10 girls with a 3 out of 4 best times dropping almost (8) seconds in her 500 free (6:21.93).  She was the 3rd fastest (9) year old in the entire meet in both the 500 & 200 free.  Paige dropped (4) seconds in the 200 free for a final time of 2:22.40.
 
Riley Mayes finished 6th in the 13-14 boys 100 fly (56.16). 

Zach Sims dropped (7) seconds in the 1650 free finishing with an 18:11.43. 

Don Wagnon and Tellier Kenny also swam fast for the Bigfish and led the
 13-14 400 free and medley relays to top (15) finish.

 

Thursday Night

Cooper Brown 11:16.88 12:06.93 Cooper Brown finished 7th overall at Age Sectionals and scored 2 points for the CMSA Bigfish.  What a season for Mrs. Brown! 
Tellier Kenny 10:22.43 10:53.53 Tellier really developed as a great distance swimmer this fall.  He made Senior Sectional cuts in the 500 Free, 1000 Free, and 1650 Free.
Zachary Sims 10:40.16 11:32.62 Zach is really progressing into a solid distance free man and solid IMer.  He had a great Southeasterns meet and is continuing with a solid Age Sectionals.
Don Wagnon 10:37.76 12:48.31 Don had some major break through swims this SCY season. He started with a goal of making Southeastern cuts and then ended up with multiple Age Sectional cuts. 

 

 

Friday

 

Team Records - Two CMSA team records went down on Friday Night.

Will Glass broke the CMSA 200 Free SCY record with a 1:56.44 breaking the record of Fredrick Stickney of 1:58.29.

Marlin Brutkiewicz broke the CMSA 100 Breast SCY record with a 1:09.65 breaking the record of Fredrick Stickney of 1:09.91.


Team Points

CMSA is in 13th place overall after Day 2.  This meet consists of seven states and hundreds of swim teams. 

 

CMSA Individual Finalist

1. Will Glass (200 Free) - Will finished 4th (5 points) with a 1:56.44 cutting almost 6 seconds off his best time.

2. Cooper Brown (200 Free) - Cooper finished 11th with a 2:03.44 cutting another second off her best time.

3. Marlin Brutkiewicz (100 Breast) - Marlin finished 4th (5 points) with a 1:09.65 cutting another second off his best time.

4. Will Glass (50 Fly) - Will finished first place in the 50 Fly (9 points) with a 26.54 just .02 seconds off our CMSA team record.

5. Riley Mayes (100 Fly) - Riley finished 6th (3 points) with a 56.11 just off his best time. 

6. Will Glass (100 IM) - Will finished 6th (3 points) with a 1:02.99 just off his best time.

7. Marlin Brutkiewicz (100 IM) - Marlin finished 16th place with a 1:06.01.  His prelim time was a best time. 

 

CMSA Relay Swims

13-14 Boys - Congrats to Don Wagnon, Zachary Sims, Riley Mayes, and Tellier Kenny for a great relay finishing 13th overall.

11-12 Girls - Congrats to Katie Marie Grafton, Cooper Brown, Leigh Higby, and Tawnie Orso for a great relay finishing 8th overall (2 points). 

 

Notes:

Don Wagnon swam the 200 Free (1:57.17) just off his best time from Southeasterns. 

Katie Marie Grafton swam the 200 Free (2:08.44) just off her best time from Southeasterns.

Tellier Kenny had two great swims with best times in the 200 Free (1:52.26) & 100 Fly (57.63)

Tawnie Orso swam the 50 Fly (30.27) cutting another 3 tenths off her best time from Southeasterns.

Leigh Higby swam the 100 Breast (1:17.86) cutting almost 2 seconds off her best time from Southeasterns. 

 

10/U Events:

Paige Madden was our only 10/U swimmer to attend Age Group Sectionals.  She swam fantastic.

200 Free - Paige cut 4 seconds off her best time going 2:22.40.  She is only 9 years old and was within 5 seconds of placing. 

50 Fly - Paige cut a tenth off her best time in the 50 Fly going 34.63.  Great job Paige!
